Learn to make common household staples that are both simple and easy on your budget! Participants will make two food items and two cleaning products and receive other recipes to make at home. Participants should bring a couple of pint containers (glass or plastic) with tight-fitting lids.

Visible Mending: Basic Sashiko Stitching

Wide Awake Club Library, 22 N Genesee St, Fillmore, NY

Learn to mend clothing with a simple hand-stitching technique! Using scrap fabric and a needle and thread, participants will learn how to patch and reinforce holes and tears in garments and make them into unique pieces. All materials will be provided, including a sample to practice the technique; participants are also welcome to bring a garment to mend (e.g., denim pants, canvas pants or shirt, or other non-stretch garment).

Come create art in a community setting! Participants will use all sorts of materials—newspapers, magazines, books, and more—to create collages representing themselves and their lives. Everyone is encouraged to bring any magazines, papers, photos, or other materials they would like to use in their collage or share with others!
