About ACRN

The Allegany County Resource Network (ACRN) is a community care group rooted in Allegany County, NY. We’re neighbors who believe a stronger community is built one shared skill, one borrowed tool, and one good conversation at a time.

What we do

We host workshops and skill shares—bookbinding, mending, budgeting, collage, baking, chicken keeping, and whatever else community members are excited to teach. We organize gatherings that make it easier to know your neighbors. And we point people toward the local resources, mutual aid, and organizations already doing good work across the county.

How we do what we do

We keep things low-pressure, locally rooted, and as close to free as we can manage—when something does cost, it’s only enough to cover what it takes to run. Workshops are led by people from right here. Venues are libraries, farms, and other community spaces that already feel like home. We rely on neighbors who offer their time, their kitchens, their porches, and their know-how—and we’d love your help shaping what comes next.

Why we do what we do

We started ACRN because we kept noticing the same thing—folks here are generous, capable, and ready to help, but it isn’t always easy to know who to ask, where to go, or how to get involved. There’s no shortage of care in Allegany County. There’s just a shortage of connection. We want to help bridge that, so neighbors can find each other before they ever need to.
